Frequently asked questions

Everything people ask us about the gamified calendar, the evening ritual and privacy.

What is a gamified calendar app?

A gamified calendar turns your real events into game elements — quests, XP, levels — to make your day more motivating. Daybard reads your Mac and iPhone calendar, names every event like a quest, then replays your day at night as an adventure where you're the hero. Nothing to re-type.

Learn more →
Is Daybard a good Apple Journal alternative?

Yes. Where Apple Journal asks you to write about your day, Daybard replays it automatically from your calendar as a choice-driven RPG adventure. No blank page: you relive your moments as quests and earn XP. Like Apple Journal, everything stays on your device, no account.

Learn more →
How is Daybard different from Habitica?

Habitica gamifies a to-do list you fill in by hand. Daybard starts from your real life: it reads your calendar, turns every event into a quest automatically, and adds an evening story with battles. No list to maintain — you live your day, the app makes it an epic.

Learn more →
How do I review my day every night with Daybard?

At night, open the grimoire on iPhone: every moment becomes a narrative card with two choices (heroic or wise). You relive your day in 5 minutes in bed, face the boss of the day, then level up. An evening ritual, not a journaling chore.

Learn more →
Is Daybard free, and does it work offline?

Yes. Daybard is free, works fully offline and requires no account. No data is sent to any server: your calendar and your hero stay on your Mac and iPhone, synced through iCloud if you choose.

Learn more →
Which devices does Daybard run on?

Daybard is a native Apple app: macOS 14+ (Apple Silicon and Intel) and iPhone on iOS 17+. The calendar works on both; the evening narrative replay is iPhone-only. Your hero syncs from iPhone to Mac via iCloud.

Learn more →
Do I have to re-type my tasks to gamify my life?

No. Daybard reads your existing calendar — meetings, deadlines, calls, family life — and turns it into quests automatically. One tap adds any unplanned moment. You earn XP in real life without maintaining a second list.

Learn more →
Is Daybard right for busy parents?

That's exactly who it was built for. Daybard turns the toddler's bath, the pointless meeting or the short night into chapters of a tender, funny epic, replayed in 5 minutes in bed. One reward per day, never guilt-tripping.

Why Daybard exists

I'm a dad. My days were full — work, errands, appointments, invisible logistics — and yet, every night, I felt like they added up to nothing. I tried to-do lists, planners, trackers: every single one ended up guilt-tripping me.

So I built Daybard: an app that asks nothing more than the life I'm already living, and every evening turns my real day into a story. Since then, even ordinary Wednesdays get a chapter.

— Gabriel, maker of Daybard
